Today, Monkey Shoulder is an epic blend of single malt Speyside Scotch whiskies inspired by Batch 27 – the Monkey Shoulder original recipe. Catch whiffs of zesty orange, vanilla, honey and spiced oak and taste mellow vanilla with spicy hints; Monkey Shoulder boasts a rich, smooth, malty and fruity character that is distinctive yet balanced enough and perfect for cocktails. The iconic whisky bottle is complete with 3 monkeys, each representing a constituent single malt whisky. Rooted in malt whisky lore, the name references a strain injury playfully known as ‘monkey shoulder’ experienced by the William Grant & Sons malt men who turned malted barley by hand using large, heavy malt shovels. Thankfully, the condition no longer exists.
